Sometimes brushing is difficult to do in hard to reach spots in your mouth. It is difficult for a toothbrush to get between the small cracks and grooves. A sealant is clear or translucent plastic that is applied to a child’s back teeth that prevents food, plaque, and acid from getting in the cracks and areas of the teeth that are prone to decay.
Sealants typically last from three to five years, although some adults have sealants intact from childhood. A sealant ONLY provides protection when it is fully intact, so let us know your sealants come off and schedule an appointment for your teeth to be resealed.
